Coming in from the south on CA – 395, this is the last casino in Nevada before you cross back into California. It is a top-rated Good Sam Park for the past 5 years and I can see why. The 50 spaces in the park were all concrete with grass between the sites and all were drive throughs. The grass was green as they water it nightly.

The casino is an old one where it appears that many locals hang out. The machines were not tight and I managed to make a little money playing video poker; at least enough to pay the $40 per night fee. There is an attached gas station that was reasonably priced for the area and the propane was only $2,50 per gallon.

The reason that we wanted to check out the parks in the Reno area is that I’m going to be working peak season at the JC Penny facility here in the area. Last season was the first that they used work campers. The pay is a little less than what Amazon pays but they do provide you with a $100 per week for your campsite. We looked at a few other campgrounds and I’ve settled on the Grand Sierra Resort campground adjacent to the casino. We were not able to get into Bordertown during the time when working as others had already booked it.

The cost at the GSR is $180 per week but it does include 30 or 50-amp electricity, water and sewer. The resort has a year around heated pool and a hot tub. In the casino, there is a poker room, bowling alley, movie theatre, spa and gym and it is only minutes from downtown Reno and the other casinos. I believe that I’ll like staying there for approximately 12 weeks.
