The format is set at two tables of $200-$400 NLH with the heads-up match taking place over the course of between 10,000-25,000 hands. The exact number of hands played is still to be determined, but here’s what we know.

When these two mega personalities in the poker world clash, you better have your popcorn ready.

Remember, this isn’t going to be a couple of guys sitting down for an hour or two playing a single session where anything could pan out. Once the sample size eclipses 10,000+ hands in a heads-up format, the cream will eventually rise to the top.

If I could lay -120 that this match never ends up taking place, that’s probably where I’d put my money. The more Polk publicly antagonizes Negreanu and bothers him like a pest, the more likely Daniel will come to his senses and pull the plug on the operation altogether.

Seriously, if Daniel truly believes he’s such a distinct underdog, why put yourself at risk of losing a bunch of money? And for someone who cares about his image as deeply as Daniel does, why expose yourself to the poker world in a format that you’re likely to get embarrassed in?

You’ve already made it clear you don’t like or respect Doug as an individual, so why do you want to lock horns and battle him heads-up for an inordinate amount of time? It’s not like you need the money or the extra publicity.

On the other hand, it makes all the sense in the world that Doug is “all-in” on this match.

Dueling with arguably the most popular figure in poker is going to boost his viewership and subscriber count – regardless of where the chips fall. Squaring off against a “lesser opponent” will take “WCGRider” back to his bum hunting days on PokerStars and Full Tilt Poker.

I’m a fan of Negreanu and the way he interacts with others and helps grow the game. Nonetheless, backing him in this heads-up challenge issued by Polk isn’t something that piques my interest.
