The Daytona Beach and Orange City Racing & Card Clubs will reopen May 25, instituting a comprehensive program aimed at keeping employees and guests safe and reducing the spread of COVID-19.
The 'Play It Safe' program will include bolstered hygiene protocols to meet or exceed best-practice guidelines of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and 'rigorous, ongoing cleaning and sterilization' of facilities.
'We've looked at every part of our business and taken steps to redesign how we serve our patrons to help ensure their health and safety, along with that of our employees,' said Fred Guzman, president and general manager of Daytona Beach and Orange City Racing & Card Clubs.
'Throughout our temporary closure and during the development of the Play It Safe program, we have been working closely with state and local government officials and public health officers to ensure we are taking appropriate safety precautions.'

Both venues have been closed since March 20, in accordance with the executive order of Gov. Ron DeSantis. They will reopen at 50% capacity in each of their card rooms and simulcast racing rooms, adhering to Florida's Full Phase 1 directive.

All guests and employees will be required to wear face masks and subjected to temperature screenings upon arrival. Dealers will have hand sanitizer spray bottles at each table, and the tables will be sanitized during game breaks. Cards and chips will be rotated on a schedule recommended by experts in infectious disease control.

Operating hours will be reduced from 10 a.m. to midnight Monday through Thursday, and from 10 a.m. to 2 a.m. on weekends.
